Ok, so I stopped myself short of calling the guys from Fall From Grace "Papa Roach" just because they share a resemblance to most of the band, but they do fit into the formula look of a booze-loving, stripper-abusing, rock persona. However I did want to give them a fair chance and what a better way to do that than reviewing their new album "Sifting Through The Wreckage."

I wasn't far off with my assessment it seems. With vocals that seem like they were ripped from a Dio/Metallica (but lighter) record and guitars that feel like they were pumped straight from a quick paced punk record, Fall From Grace seems to have created some catchy (but cliché) music. Truthfully this record has many songs that could hit the radio and have people sing its praise, but it also feels like this is something we have heard all before.

Alternative rock/punk is an obviously crowded genre, and FFG does put forth an acceptable effort but I don't think they can get past the overwhelming amount of other bands vying for the same attention. "Sifting Through The Wreckage" does a few personality skips as well. At one time it sounds like a punk band with basic chords strumming proudly, then it shifts to an alternative rock band that could rival Chris Daughtry's "Home" with simplistic choruses looping. You get the idea. A new amalgamation is created, but based on the same old same old.

Fall From Grace will not be faulted for being addictive because the tempo and rhythm are undeniably catchy, but it feels like we have been around this place before so I lost interest fast. You might not even care that this sounds similar to other music, and if you are one of those people, you might feel like "Sifting Through The Wreckage" deserves a higher rating, but the catchiness wasn't worth continuously listening to this.
