| First and foremost 3OH!3 have clearly soared over their previous efforts, the self-titled record was a truly startling debut, however, there were specific tracks and even specific parts of tracks that I would listen to, skipping a portion of the other material. There were a lot of segments on that cd that just had this uncontrollable energy even if the mood was somber, 3OH!3 knows how to write a riff or a beat to get you moving. My fear was that they wouldnt be able to come up with another slew of these head rocking, smooth moving, and overall infusing moments. I was completely wrong. This album is almost like one non-stop ride. One bouncy beat after another, hitting you in all the right places. Whether this makes the record more or less substantial is probably a decision best left to the listener, however, I kind of see it as a blessing in disguise. This distinctly 3OH!3 style makes for a upbeat/dance of a listen, but sometimes leaves me desiring something slightly more concrete and rooted. Which is all I can honestly really complain about.
"Want" without the slightest doubt is one of the best CDs I have listened to in a solid 6-7 months, it has everything you could ask for, the vocals are incredibly mind blowing, the guitar/beats/keys work is straight-forward and clean sounding, drums make you move, it's outstanding. I have listened to this CD atleast 40-50 times through and it hasn't grew old to me in the least bit, and not only can I listen to it that much without it getting repetitious I can listen to the entire thing, which is rare these days in the music scene.
All the vocals sound wonderful. The vocals really bring a fun feal to the record. In terms of track highlights, "Chokechain" is an early runner up for song of the year possessing an energy that just pulses through your veins and stirs your heart (literally). "Still Around" is a grasping upbeat track that grows on you by the seconds, and the sinfully infectious "Richman" makes for a formidable one-two punch. "Punkb*tch" and "I'm Not Your Boyfriend" are also notably terrific. So don't give me wrong and don't think i'm crazy for letting you all know right here and now that this is the best record I have listened to in 2008!
