9.5 (out of 10)

Danger Radio cautiously decided to sign with Photo Finish Records, and you can tell spent a good time of their career on crafting the catchy pop rock melodies and earnest ballads that would become "Used And Abused." I'll give it to the band that they know how to start off an album. The opener, "So Far Gone," blasts forth with intensity the tones of desperation reminding me a bit of Anberlin at times, the rockers who have a knack for scouting out the trendiest melodies. The rest of the album follows suite, with more upbeat melodic rock and a few slow tunes mixed in. But I'll be the first to admit that I'm sure soon the time will come when I'll have to "Boys Like Girls" this band which means they're on the verge of completely blowing up and I'll have to hide in the closet about loving this band!

While Danger Radio has been under my radar for quite sometime, since the release of their first EP. Danger Radio sound like they have just climbed out of my radio and tumbled onto my floor: they're smooth and catchy and take caution if you're diabetic deadly sweet. Most of the tracks have that over-produced and artificial quality to them but since they're not playing acoustic indie rock, then I guess that doesn't really matter, now does it? I don't think the band want to become huge pop ridden all-stars but instead want to play the music they love and grab a large fan base which they have almost at this moment. Fortunately for Danger Radio, they might just get a wish they didn't wish for: I can already hear their music playing on Top 40.
