| The guys in this five-piece band are pretty young. I mean Elysia started in 2003 when its members
were still in early high school and after a few roster changes as well as 2 EPs and an album, they
are ready to bestow their latest effort onto our ears. "Lion Of Judas" is that exact effort and I'm
kind of in the mood for some deathcore right now so lets begin.
While an acquired taste for some, Elysia plays music in the same vein as bands like Knights of the
Abyss, Emmure, and Suicide Silence. Have no clue what that sounds like? Well get out from under that
pop-rock rock you've been hiding under because these brutal breakdowns and raging riffs are just the
start for the 9 tracks making up "Lion Of Judas." Don't expect too much diversity or melody in this
however as most of the guitars and drums take direct jabs with hardened pounds.
The album doesn't take to much of a diviation from the standard brutal path that others have paved
before it and that is a shame. It seems as thought Elysia has the passion to make more intriging
music but it just doesnt come out in this release. The fast paced tempo and growling vocals are on
par but that can't save an other wise plain slamfest.
Sadly other bands offer more than what Elysia delivers and while there are some powerful elements in
the songs contained in "Lion Of Judas," there is better. Looks like Judas sold this album out for 30
pieces of silver.
