| So I was in the mood for a double blast of music from one effort today so I decided to brush the
dust off the split that Hour Of The Wolf and Lewd Acts recently did with one another. I always find
it hard to review splits because if one band is great and the other sucks, the score will reflect
both and bring down the good band. I'll do my best to explain why both bands either suck or are
great the way I normally down, through goofy metaphors.
Coming in at 7 songs long, I think writing the review took longer than actually listening to it.
Hour Of The Wolf starts with a jolt and never slows down. They inject fast paced punk straight into
the veins of the listener. Strike Anywhere and Crime In Stereo fans will find a home with this band.
I wasn't blown away by their songs but they kept on par with the standard punk songs you hear now a
days.
Lewd Acts had 4 songs but they might as well have had 2 because the other 2 were shorter than the
time it takes for me to piss. Lewd Acts is harder and while it follows a familiar punk background,
the shout/growl vocals and berserking guitars let us know this is different. They sound more like
Kid Dynamite or 108 but with more brash showmanship.
This split gave me a taste of traditional and hardcore punk. While I felt Hour Of The Wolf's section
was good over all I felt bored because I have heard it all before. Lewd Acts had the more remarkable
sound because they were all over the place and it kept it fresh, even though it was boggled. Check
this out only if you are in to the diversity of punk, and you won't be let down. For all others,
instead of checking out this split, go check out a banana split they are more tasty.
