"Misanthropy Pure" opens with the intensity of the two minute long, "Venomspreader". It seems with this song they picked up right where they left off with their previous releases and will harness that intensity and talent through out the 11 tracks that make up "Misanthropy Pure". Continuing on "The Creation Ruin" wastes absolutely no time building intensity, with the fade to a guitar driven breakdown with Mazzalli shouting at his finest. The title track "Misanthropy Pure" harnesses the intensity and vocal delivery just as up to par as the past two songs. "We Who Finish Last" is a build up of drums, clashing guitars and bass, when right around the 15 second Matt shouts with all of his might one thing to learn about Shai Hulud is they aren't holding anything back with this release, the lyrics are really something you should read while you listen. They show some serious depth and really bring out Shai's ability to not only play destructive music but riddle it with lyrics that match everything they wish to convey.

The rest of the record plugs along alike the first half of it. The songs really never lose intensity. Wasting no time rebuilding the power and intensity, "Four Earths" is driven by a constant drumbeat and an appearance by a little switch up this song sounds more serious than the other 10 tracks on the record. There is also a short breakdown about a half minute before the song fades out which makes it all the better, this track flows perfectly into the next song on the record "Set Your Body Ablaze". "Set Your Body Ablaze" is the best of this record from crashing drums to soaring scream they never let up the intensity, that's partly why I love this band so much. They give you all they have!

On "Misanthropy Pure" everything clicks together for Shai Hulud, they know what they can do and trust me it shows with this full-length release. Shai Hulud is going to be a band to keep a close eye on in the future. "Misanthropy Pure" will most likely break my top three hardcore records of the year list, solid guarantee.
