9.5 (out of 10)

In this day and age, it's hard for the music industry. You can't just sell a lone CD anymore and expect people to turn their heads. So what does Cinematic Sunrise do for their new EP, "A Coloring Storybook And Long Playing Record?" You guessed it, they included colored pencils, and a blank coloring book canvas along with their new effort. So while I spent a good hour drawing in my coloring book, I decided I might have to put it away so I can start checking out this EP. Aw mom do I have to? Yes.

Popping in with catchy melodies and infectious riffs, CS captures the quintessential pop rock atmosphere (with pianos, acoustics and high pitched vocals included). They feel like a cross between Boys Like Girls and Daphne Loves Derby. Emotional lyrics and heartfelt presentation makes this EP unforgettable and this will surely find its way to your favorites list for this year. It's just too catchy/stunning/[insert pop rock cliché complement here] for you not to applaud it.

So while I spent a lot of time on the coloring, I am fairly certain that I will check this soft and elegant EP playing in my stereo for weeks to come. The title of the effort doesn't truly make sense until after you hear it, because you will color a story book and listen to this 6 song EP longer than some other full-lengths. All you have to know is that Cinematic Sunrise is poppier than a seedy muffin and you need to check out this now. Go Now!
