| So who would have thought that a boy and a girl would start a band the year I was born (1986) and
still be around today? Not many things last that long, let alone bands. But Here Comes Everybody
isn't every band. They have compiled their latest outing "The Veronica Project" and are ready to
make their 22nd anniversary as a band a memorable one.
After a few tracks, "The Veronica Project" sounds like a piano structured off-kilter tribute to
Elton John and
maybe even a bent version of The Carpenters. I went in expecting pop songs but left with bar/lounge
music that would
have been hip in the 80's. Now the lyrics are funny because they have lyrics like "go suck a dick"
(not actual lyrics, just an example) and sets them to calm and classical music which is kind of like
putting a tux on a hobo with a sailor's mouth.
This group is interesting because it’s all ran by 2 people (with various helpers) and they create
something nice. Mind you it would be appropriate for seniors or sketchy people trying to hook up at
an 80's club, but its nuances don't run out that fast. If you like constant Captain and Tenniel
piano/singing with introductions of accordions and curses left and right though 17 tracks then you
might find this entertaining for a bit. If not, go to part B.
Part B: This is statistically likely to make you hate people that play piano lounge music (don't
worry I won't say lounge anymore.) I will say that the lyrics are hilarious and act like a comedians
live album. That would be the only reason you should pick this up, unless you are a lover of this
type of music. But there aren't enough songs (there are a few solid ones, check “Spring” and “The
Water”) to make you take notice beyond laughing at their first few lines of funny dialogue.
