There’s often times pop bands that you can just glaze right over. It’s not that they aren’t good; it’s just that they aren’t very memorable. The Method to My Medium falls into this category for the most part. When it comes to writing a song, it appears that TMTMM can do it with ease, but they’re also in a very watered down genre at this point in time. Poppy rock bands that include electronics in their songs is pretty standard these days. You can look to The Maine, Play Radio Play, The Rocket Summer, and others who do it so well that unless you’re something special, you’re going to fall to the wayside.

That taken into account, there isn’t anything particularly bad about The Sincerities; it’s a decent record all and all. Their melodies are spot on, their singer’s vocals are the perfect fit for this style of music, and the inclusion of movie samples was pretty interesting. (There’s a Good Will Hunting quote on the album, track four, “We Can Live Like Kings”). If you’re looking for a catchy pop record, you’ll find it here, but if you want it to jump out and grab you, it’s worth a shot, but don’t get your hopes up. The Method to My Medium does this genre of music well, but the songs are forgettable, which is definitely not good in this genre of music.
