| Story Of The Year have been the mainframe of catchy/powerful rock for the past few years, being from the same state as them i've had the chance to catch them live a numerous of times and let me be the first to state that when they bring it they really bring it. When I first popped "The Black Swan" in my cd player I wasn't completely blown away because it's the classic Story Of The Year we've grown to love i'd say "The Black Swan" is a mixture of what they first broke into the scene with and bits and pieces of "In The Wake Of Determination" it's a great example of what they've been doing as a whole.
The album hits and hits and never comes up short from any aspect you look at it, each track holds its own it's not missing anything and it's not holding anything back. Story Of The Year have always been known for their on-stage performance and with "The Black Swan" it does nothing but get you psyched for the next time they come through your town cause trust me you're going to be in for a treat! As each track unfolds you can't help but sit back and wonder what's going to come next or if theres something you missed previously that you need to go back and search for, it's been a long time coming for a truly powerful and epic rock record and Story Of The Year's "The Black Swan" has brought whats been missing.
So if you were a die hard fan of "Page Avenue" or a new found fan of "In The Wake Of Determination" Story Of The Year made sure not to leave anyone out and "The Black Swan" fits well in anyones pocket. Would I say "The Black Swan" is the best album 2008 has seen thus far, no. But I will say that when the rest of this year unfolds and it's time to break out your favorite albums, you can bet damn well that "The Black Swan" will be in my top 10.
