| Beat Union you can tell spent a good time of their career on crafting the catchy pop rock melodies and earnest ballads that would become "Disconnected" I'll give it to the band that they know how to start off an album. The opener, "Disconnected," blasts forth with intensity- the tones of desperation reminding me a bit of Punchline at times, the rockers who have a knack for scouting out the trendiest melodies. The rest of the album follows suite, with more upbeat melodic rock and a few slow tunes mixed in. But I'll be the first to admit that i usually can't stand bands that try to be this catchy, but i'm in love with Beat Union!
While the band has been under my radar for quite sometime, since I listened to them on myspace months ago. Beat Union sound like they have just climbed out of my radio and tumbled onto my floor: they're slick and shiny, and covered with a sugar coating that needs to be ate under careful eye. Most of the tracks have that over-produced and artificial quality to them but since they're not playing acoustic indie rock, then I guess that doesn't really matter, now does it? I don't think the band want to become huge pop ridden all-stars but instead want to play the music they love and grab a large fan base which they have pretty much at this moment. Fortunately for Beat Union, they might just get a wish they didn't wish for: I can already hear their music playing on the radio!
