| With a name like Embrace The End it’s understandable if your first reaction was that this is yet another band who puts a love a gore drenched growling above actual musical prowess. But if you peel back the layers of grey matter, intestines and severed limbs it becomes apparently clear that this band of bruised up and hard guys have more musical chops than those involving your typical metal/hardcore act.
"Ley Lines" is a heaping serving of fire for only the most musically fit metal fans. If you can’t pick out thirty different guitar parts thrown at you while appreciating intensely thundering blast beats and bass noodling (yes bass noodling), then this might not be the record for you. But if you’re sick of pansy ass metal bands who think heavy tons of gore is enough to cut the mustard and think grind band’s have had the technical gore field on lock for far too long, Embrace The End are your saviors.
All I can think is if someday Embrace The End were to ever break up from what they've shown me on "Ley Lines" it would be a happy day for the competition, and only the competition. "Ley Lines" is the best mix of memorable and technical metal I’ve had the pleasure of listening to in a long time. If this is their last record, prepare for this band to be the “one that got away” for the metal scene for a long time to come.
