Now when you picture the name of this band in your mind, you might first imagine a huge amassing slingshot that is stretched from north to south Dakota that is primed with huge boulders to strike an overseas country, but you would be slightly misled. The two talented musicians that make up this little indie adventure happen to be Carry Comando and Tom Patternson. Two people hmmmm? Well with their new album "Their Dreams Are Dead, But Ours Is The Golden Ghost" on store shelves, I am interested in seeing if this duo can make me drop what I'm listening to and share a few good songs with me.

These two have to be one of the cutest set of musicians because their music bleeds innocence and light rhythms. The instruments used are limited to drums and a keyboard but they make it work. When I first popped it in I didn't even notice the lack of sound because the gentle mixture of percussion and keys mix so well with Carly's voice, who can sing very beautifully.

On the other hand, the production is a bit hazy and they are sometimes low in the mix which makes it sound like a live recording but that can be forgiven because of how enjoyable and catchy the songs are. Their healthy compliment of songs and creative keyboard melodies are what make this album a hit and I do believe that it outshines the unsightly things about the album.

So if you need some indie treatment and you really like effects/keys and you also enjoy a songbird voice, then check out Slingshot Dakota. And what better way to do that, then to check out their latest (and very long titled) album "Their Dreams Are Dead, But Ours Is The Golden Ghost." It will have you mellowing out in your chair/bed faster than you can say the album’s title. Their Dreams Are De......::relaxed::
