9.5 (out of 10)

There have been many bands that I have sat back and thought to myself, "Wow, this band is pretty amazing. Why aren't they signed yet?" Search The City was a part of that group when they put out their first EP "Ghosts." And until they recently signed to Tooth & Nail (very smart) I was wondering if the entire industry was going crazy. So when I heard they were ready to release their new album "A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It" I was so excited because it is exactly the way I wanted STC to come out and just be great from the start. Be prepared.

There are a hand full of releases that come out every year that you can say are so catchy and insanely infectious that you must take notice. This album is right in the middle of that hand and unloads 10 tracks of tasty melody. Sugar coated and wrapped in a shiny package, Search The City takes power rock and subtle indie nuances to the next level with a steady balance of both while transitioning with style and grace.

Tracks are filled with jumpy choruses as well as sensual building indie sections, making for a one-two combo. Everything from lively vocals, dueling guitars and a unmeasured vigor, makes "A Fire So Big The Heavens Can See It" one of a kind. Looking for a good track to jump into? No need to ponder as no matter which you pick to listen to, you will be happy. In the end I needed more than 10 tracks (I am greedy), because it was so good.

So If you enjoy the tunes from bands like Ivoryline, The Maine, or Every Avenue, then this will feel like a second home where you can plant yourself for a while. It is hard to find anything wrong with this album, as it incorporated elements from all over and made it achingly addictive. You will be listening to this CD for a long time and you will love every second of it. This CD is so big the heavens can see it, so stop your searching.
