| A Verse Unsung is a young group of four that has come down off the frozen mountains of Minnesota
to bring us their latest album, "Sleeping Tigers." Notably called progressive, the band has only
been in the game for about two years, but they have still managed to put out a successful EP and
this new album to awaiting fans. Touring along side some of the up-and-comers they have built a
strong start to a memorable career. But this album has to put the foundation down for that.
You will find this band dishes out many levels of rock. General term you say? Well that's the
feeling I get too. While A Verse Unsung feels a bit different then the standard, they can never
seem to leave very far from what every other rock band sounds like. Their lead singer, Jake shouts
out with Rise Against-like vocals while drums and guitars do their respective progressive thing.
There are a massive amount of bands that can make albums that have all the right ingredients for
success, but the fact that they all use the same sound truly screws it up.
The lyrics of these very "Nickelback titled" songs are fitting for the genre but once again, we
have heard it all before. That being said, it is on top echelon of this familiar rock. So even
though this beaten path has been traveled a lot, A Verse Unsung seems to walk closely parallel to
the sound rather then right on top of it. Either way, these passionate vocals, gripping guitars
and drums will keep you entertained for a brief amount of time, if not longer.
Popular rock isn't that hard to find now-a-days and "Sleeping Tigers" is a nice forey into catchy
rock with light steps out of it's rock bounds that make it a tad unique. Truthfully you will
feel like you have heard this before but most will enjoy it. You can't let sleeping tigers down
just as much as you can't keep good rock down.
