Lets pull the old pad and pen and do a little inspection here shall we? We have this band, A Dream
Too Late, who hails from of all places; Oregon. Check. They are a proclaimingly Christian
experimental rock band? Check. They are signed to Tooth & Nail? Oh, of course. Well it turns out
they have gathered a following while venturing around with their label mates and have their new
album "Intermission To The Moon" visiting our your ears in early November. Sounds like the
makings of another hit band in T&N's arsenal, but are they good enough?
It turns out that while A Dream Too Late does have the catchy upbeat attitudes that can get them
recognition, they take it a different direction with the help of that "experimental" in front of
the rock in their genre. This isn't to say that people won't like their music, and if anything its
the complete opposite, but they just take a different road to get to peoples ears then others.
Their carefree light rock is mixed with a myriad of elements that stretch from electronics and
synth, to acoustics lined up with their infectious guitar work. Which is a bit different from the
T&N norm wouldn't you say?
The swooning layers of vocals come from three of the band members and create a thick and enjoyable
atmosphere of singing. It all raises my impression of them from a mere rock band to a ambitious &
talented band that is looking to experiment with their sound and dish out some synth heavy,
acoustic/electronic blended fret surprises. Now with some of their music, it can sound like
something straight off of MTV but with constant steps out side of the box, I'm sure that can be
forgiven.
With a name like "Intermission To The Moon," it certainly feels like you are blasting off with
this upbeat experimental rock. With a fully loaded album, this is an excellent start for A Dream
Too Late. A catchy and fulfilling record with a new spin on rock is just what I needed to hear.
And with minor downfalls, such as a few mainstream similarities, this record still doesn't miss a
beat. For fans of bands like The Send or Burning Armada.
