| A lot of things came from the break up of Creed. Alter Bridge is one of the better things that
surfaced. Thoroughly fed up with Scott Stapp, the remaining members left and grabbed a new lead
singer for the formation of AB. And as their first album in three years, it'll be interested to
see what "Blackbird" has in store for us. Seeing as their last album, "One Day Remains," went triple platinum, I
don't think they will have a problem popping out another great rock album but we shall see.
Alter Bridge is one of those hard rock bands that has the uncanny ability to piece together hit
after hit. After all if it's not broke, don't fix it. Much like Finger Eleven and Seether, an
effective mixture of experienced alt rock guitars and swooning vocals trot their stuff. Think of
it like Creed but with unleashed guitars and no drunk people. But no one could ask for a more well
executed set of guitars helmed by Mark Tremonti, and the chemistry that the rest of the band
continues on from before.
While the band's image and sound might be a bit cliché, I personally can't give an album a bad nod
just because of that. It's originality is par but it's just so balanced and catchy that there is
no doubt it will go platinum. Every song has the charged harmonious chorus and solid progression
that makes it impossible to not like, but almost obnoxious if played on the radio too much. Some
times it seems you have to sacrifice innovation, for some plain old fashioned catchy alternative
rock.
Similar song structures that follow the verse/chorus/breakdown style are present but it doesn't
hurt the record as you might think. The masterful fretwork of Mark T. and non-stop record selling
hit machine that this music is will assure that many people will like it. This is rock to it's
core and despite the lack of change, you will find yourself spinning it on more then several
occasions.
