| The very first time I witnessed A Life Once Lost, I couldn't
help but feel a tad bit overwelmed by the tunes the group brought
to the table. The stuff wasn't very catchy and proved to be material
that only a matured metal fan could enjoy. Looking back years after
first seeing them live with Evergreen Terrace and the Red Chord, I
now begin to understand the music A Life Once Lost have exposed to
the masses.
This time around it's safe to say the group have chimed in with a
different beat in their careers. "Iron Gag" now heads off in a direction
that more fans can appreciate. Taking tips from Lamb of God while
implimenting the heaviness of a Pantera album combined with guitar solos
only a madman could formulate, A Life Once Lost are heading off in
a more accessible and original direction than ever before. Sure "Iron
Gag" contains some softer more melodic keypoints, but ALOL have hardly
traded their unique sound in for a larger paycheck.
When listening to "Iron Gag" it becomes undeniable that the group has
actually created a sound that's more fitting to the crowds they've been
exposed to in the past couple of years. Parts of the album get a little
shady as their uniqueness is given-up for sheer heaviness, but at the
end of the day A Life Once Lost offer quite an amusing piece of metal
that proves to be a large stepping stone in their career.
