| With a modern day death metal instrumental front and vocal stylings likely to fit in
with Pantera, Metallica, Trivium, or Antagonist Anonymus is another 'blast from the
past' band. They offer a straight forward metal approach that's deeply rooted in the
80's thrash scene. Now is this something a lot of people are going to take a liking to?
Probably not. But any true to the bone metal fan, is going to love this disc. Will this
band appeal to any of the myspace scenester metal fans? Most likely not, but who gives
a shit. This band's got a tight sound that really catches your ear upon first listen.
It's like listening to Philip Anselmo himself on vocals.
Now with that said, I must admit that this album is definitely an album I probably won't
find myself listening to again. I give the band props for bringing back the thrash sound
equipped with melodic modern day metal, but if I wanted to listen to Pantera, I'd just
toss in Cowboys From Hell. Tracks like "I'm Addicted," "Fonce Ou Creve," "Technology Kills,"
and "Faster" are tracks that highlight the album, but the Pantera-esque vocals have never
really been for me. Hell the band even throws in a Pantera-like breakdown in the last track
"Abusive Mental Anarchy". I think their sound is just to similar to make them anything but
a par band, which is why I don't see this band making much of a mark on the metal scene of
today.
If you're into Pantera, you'll love this album. It might as well be a tribute CD. If you're
a fan of the new wave of metal, chances are you and this disc will never even have a run-in.
In fact the only place I really see this making a big impression is at a biker bar. Their
sound is tight and clean, but they just don't have what it takes to rise above their influences
and that's where I think this band will just fall through the cracks.
