| This 17-minute EP is just a glimpse at this band’s potential to be something greater among the ashes of many bands that have played and played this genre, i'll admit when I first listened to this CD I had no idea what to expect, let me clearly just state "breath-taking". I really like this EP because it is concise and really just gets right into the meat of what the band is, and they are all about playing fuzzed out up-tempo indie rock and roll.
Although the music is more indie rock than metal, the vocals take from The Mars Volta and a bit of The Fall Of Troy at times with the wall of sound and subtle yelling which makes the music easier to digest. This group does not go wild showing off how technically they can play their instruments, instead they focused on writing a good batch of songs and putting them forth in the simplest manner possible without over producing it.
If you like indie, post-hardcore, or just plain rock – this album is a good place to find something similar to all three genres. The way The Stiletto Formal sound on this "This Is My Boomstick" is how I like my music played live, raw, aggressive and full of intensity. Also I promised Pernell i'd mention that they remind me of the original A Thorn For Every Heart and if you were or are a fan you should definitely give The Stiletto Formal a chance.
