Holy shit. That’s all I should have to say about this release for you to know how amazing it is. Someone finally got it 100% correct when it comes to putting together a compilation album! While other recent comps from other labels have come close to hitting the mark, they’ve failed at the finish line due to lack of unreleased material and the inclusion of songs by big named artists that don’t fit with the comps over all sound. "A Santa Cause 2" harkens back to the day a few years ago when every punk fan looked forward to the next Hopelessly Devoted To You comp to come out. Back before having double time beats or sounding like Jawbreaker was considered a kiss of death for a comp! This is what I’ve been waiting for.
You see in the last few years the compilation has gone from the scenes and now go to source from B-Sides to an overview of the releasing labels stable of artists. One look at this year’s Punk-O-Rama if you need any proof of that. The strength of this Christmas comp is that it does just the opposite. Instead of focusing on Immortal bands they've spread out the work to make an interesting yet satisfying play.
Starting off with Dave Mellilo, who showcases his oriented sound perfectly, the perfect opening song for a Christmas Compilation "All I Want For Christmas". I don’t know what Dave has been up to since his latest release but i'm loving this new tune. Hoping along to my next favorite track Daphne Loves Derby spit their game in typical fashion with "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" the band displays their personality oh so well and leave you with an instant classic, which beats the living hell out of any other cover of this song. I could go on about each and every track but I'm not going to you need to go purchase this online as soon as possible with unreleased tracks from Dave Melillo, Tyler Read, Sugarcult, The Format, It Dies Today, Spitalfield, Meg And Dia, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Down To Earth Approach, Daphne Loves Derby, Hot Rod Circuit, June, A Change Of Pace, The Finals, Action Action, MC Lars, Agent Sparks feat Mike Ezinger of Incubus, Umbrellas, Far-Less, Haste The Day, Rediscover, Brandtson, As Tall As Lions, Flee The Seen, Brazil and last but not least Gone By Daylight. How can you go wrong?
This is honestly the best Christmas Compilation i've ever had the chance of listening to, i've had some greats and i'm a huge sucker for Christmas songs by some of my favorite bands it's my favorite time of year with good music to hear and i'm filled with tons of Christmas cheer. My favorite tracks would be the tracks offered by Spitalfield, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Daphne Loves Derby, June, A Change Of Pace, The Finals, Umbrellas, Rediscover, and As Tall As Lions.
"A Santa Cause 2" is one Christmas Compilation CD I can whole heartedly recommend; if you miss the good old days of punk rock x-mas classics, then this is everything you’ve been waiting for. So go spend the money for this whenever you get the chance it's worth every single cent!!!
