| Say “hello” to As Blood Runs Black, because I have a good idea that they'll be planning on staying around for quite
some time. Signed on with Mediaskare records, and having their newly released album of “Allegiance” just recently
drop in stores everywhere should have fans of hardcore, deathmetal, and metal alike jumping up in glee.
After getting to hear this record, I became a huge fan of As Blood Runs Black. They With some extremely powerful death
metal vocals, giving you a mixture of some oh so orgasmic highs, and lows that could probably be compared to a pissed
off cookie monster with no more cookies left in his jar. I'm a fan of chants, and they give you just that, making it good
clean fun. Example; In the second song of the cd, “In Dying Days”, which to me is the standout song on the cd, they chant
“Bring the mother fuckin' ruckus”, which leads me to ask...what's not to love about a song with a line like that. The
guitar players are very talented, between their nice little melodic parts, solos, and dancy breakdown parts that would
get any metalcore fan on their feet dancing, the guitar players give you everything you want to hear. They even have
their own slowed down, instrumental track on the cd (“Pouring Rain”) where it's just them playing. It's a very relaxing
one, and show's they can play more then just “YEAH BRO! METAL! IT'S BRUTAL DUDE!”. The drums are pretty tasty sounding,
and cake on powerful blast beats, and double bass pedal that won't quit (perfect example being the last track of the cd
“Legends Never Die”).
For those of you that aren't fans of hardcore or metal, just keep away, this isn't going to be anywhere near your fancy.
Some things I find negative to the album, there's basic metalcore parts in some songs, that I didn't find special.
I sometimes get easily annoyed by the continuous breakdown after breakdown in each song that this band gave us on the cd.
I was drinking a Cherry Coke the first time listening to this cd all the way through, and with each of the breakdowns...let
me tell you friends, I drank that Cherry Coke VERY aggressively! Other then the few boring typical metalcore parts, this
cd is a job well done on As Blood Runs Black's part.
Much like liquor, As Blood Runs Black is hard and gets right to the point, and it'll get you drunk..ON METAL! So for
those of you that are fans of bands like Through The Eyes Of The Dead, or Animosity this is you're space ship, so jump
aboard for a wonderful journey of things you'll never experience anywhere else. Check it out. Please check it out, I
promise it will be worth it.
