| There's so much to say about music these days, everyones put in categories and placed here and there. Every now and then you'll get a band that stands out on their own, without the classic "This Band Sounds Like Or Similar To". This is what's a more reoccuring theme anymore and I really get fed up with it to be quite honest. Punk/Emo/Rock/Pop everyone borrows and redistributes sounds, hooks, ideas, and standards. But this isn't to be said about the bunch that make up The Sound Of Animals Fighting. They have their act together they know who they are and what they're about, they don't have to blend and mend their music to show a new side of their talent they stay true to their roots and sound in general. I've been a long time fan of TSOAF and I really do believe signing to Equal Vision was their best decision so far, they have that solid indie/ambient sound that Equal Vision can really introduce to the masses.
Tiger And The Duke was one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years of anytime on that note, but I must say "The Ocean And The Sun" is not only a step outside themselves but a huge step forward for The Sound Of Animals Fighting as musicians and artists. "The Ocean And The Sun" is jam-packed with endless hooks, catchy choruses, and steady beats. This album is carried not only buy great musicianship but plenty of straight forward intensely packed tracks with energy and passion, "The Ocean And The Sun" is perfect for the time of year and a huge lift off for future indie artists. The Sound Of Animals Fighting have paved a path for fellow artists alike and opened new boundaries for musicians around the world.
This whole CD drips with sincerity and emotion and there is no doubt that The Sound Of Animals Fighting pours every ounce of themselves into their songwriting and performance.
With the year more than half-over, "The Ocean And The Sun" will go down as possibly one of my favorite indie/ambient album of the year. The band rose from the ashes of all the washed up CD's that have dropped this year to propel an album greater than anything we music fans could have fathomed.
