Lets start off by you telling us your name and what you do/play in the band.
>David lizmi, bass player/singing/keys
How was the writing and recording for your latest album "Say Something"?
>It was more a collection of songs from the past 4 years. We picked the songs that we liked the best, sort of a " best of" compilation. There are 3 writers in the band so everyone contributed to the melting pot. The entire band arranges so it adds another mixing element as well.
Did the album have any specific influence or concept?
>No concept, more of a collection of songs and ideas then one grand cohesive plan. Personal experiences, relationships, other musicians, producers and contributors helped mold the sound of what "say something" is to you and me.
What would like people to get from hearing this record?
>We enjoy when people have a completely wide range of emotions. As long as people feel that their life is slightly more fulfilled than before digesting our music, we are happy. We don't mind if people dislike, as long as they passionately dislike it. As long as the emotion is distinct and precise then mission accomplished.
How did you guys come to sign with Sidecho Records? How do they treat you guys?
>Sidecho records discovered us at sxsw of 07'. They fed us steaks and baked potatoes and have always been very open minded and generous. They work hard and think out of the box.
What are your musical influences in general?
>Every member comes from very different places which results into nonconformist sound if you ask me. I (David) listen to a lot of 60s rock and old time country, Adam listens to Steve Reich and Blonde Redhead, Tom listens to Radiohead and Yes, Jess listens to Dr. Dog and MGMT. With all those powers combined we form a delightful hodgepodge.
Are you guys working on any new songs for an upcoming new full-length?
>We have almost 20 songs complete and more being churned. We can't stop ourselves. Its the gas that keeps the fire going so to speak and helps us stay sane.
How has the touring been lately?
>Its been great! I am still sandy from the beach. We are currently on tour with Jukebox the Ghost and just got off tour with Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin.
What is something that you guys can't live without while on tour?
>We need a nice home cooked meal every once in awhile or we go crazy. We like to bring reading material and acoustic guitars so we can sing songs. I have been reading The Economist, Adam: Cider House Rules, Tom: Vampire Bats, Jess: a Tom Robbins novel.
What is the craziest thing a fan has done for the band?
>I signed a girl's face with a Sharpie. A person brought us pounds of candies and gave us money to hang out with us.
Thanks for answering our questions. Is there anything that you would like to tell our readers?
>Exploring independent creative arts is very crucial to help small towns from being barren culture-less wastelands so thank you.
