Just Surrender - Interview

How are you guys feeling today?

>(Jason) Good,

>(Alex) Awesome.

>(Jason) We had the day off yesterday and we had to drive from Florida and took like 17 hours. We stopped last night probably around 12:30 or so.

Is everything good so far?

>(Jason) Yeah it’s been really fun, good shows good turn outs..

>(Alex) ..and the bands rule.

>(Alex) Yeah it’s definitely good.

>(Jason) Yeah the bands are all cool dudes.

>(Steve) Little disappointing about Valencia but Shane’s voice was struggling, he had to go home.

>(Jason) Yeah he had some issues, some serious strep throat. He wouldn’t even be able to make it through the sets and he didn’t want to push it too much.

Yeah that’s no good.

>(Jason) Yeah I respect it though.

Where have you guys been so far and how many days have you been touring?

>(Jason) Hole on let me pull out the laminate.. this is Columbia Missouri so 11 shows 10 shows.

Most of the people I know really anticipated this album and we waited forever. How are you guys feeling about it?

>(Jason) We’re all really excited about it because we all had a lot to do with it and put a lot into it. We feel it’s more honest of musicianship and who we are as people, song writing, just everything is a lot more honest.

How do you guys like touring with We the Kings, Metro Station, and Valencia?

>(Jason) Oh yeah.

>(Alex) Definitely.

Are you guys planning on working on a new album after this tour?

>(Jason) Well after this tour we have another tour with a band called June we’re doing two weeks or so with them. Then we’re doing another short tour with Quiet Drive and My American Heart. Then we’ll be home for the winter and I think we’re going to start writing again. We’re talking about doing some new songs soon. We also might do a DVD in the winter time.

What we’re the influences on the album? I didn’t know if We’re In like Sin was self explanatory..

>(Jason) Influences on the album..

>(Steve) Just experiences

>(Jason) Yeah the album was just about different experiences. From the last record we wrote a lot of the songs when I was like 16 and 17. We’re all like 21 now but Dan’s 25 now and we’ve been touring for three years straight. A lot experiences we’ve had on tour with crazy nights or mistakes you’ve made and just lots of other different random things. Everything is just a different experience that either one of us has seen or other people have gone through multiple times. Just putting that collectively into a record and we felt like a lot of the themes of ever song mesh well together because their just all kind of sinful, lustful themes.

>(Steve) What’s your favorite song on the record?

The record? You’re Life and Mine is really good and Body Language is one of my favorites.

I’ve always wondered what it’s like to be on tour, do you ever find yourself singing along with the other bands?

>(Jason) I love it. I watch every band every night, We The Kings Especially. Just from watching them the past week I know every word to every song because the songs are so catchy. That’s now I know it’s a good record and I’m really excited about it.

Yeah I really like that album too, I listened to it on the way here actually. I didn’t get to review your album because Wayne beat me to it. He’ll be very disappointed that he missed this. If you want to say hi to him or sorry that you missed him..

>(Jason) Hey buddy! I wish you could come. Next time we’ll hang!
