Can we start this off right by telling us what your name is and what you do in the band?
>My name is Frankie O and I am a Singer/Songwriter in No Hollywood Ending.
We really liked your new album "Everybody's Talking." How did the writing and recording
process go with it and how did it differ from "It’s All a Nightmare?"
>Well normally how this band works is CLC, Ryan, or I we write full songs at home with guitar, and then we bring it to the others. CLC or Ryan will write the songs with Steve and I usually show mine to CLC to make sure they are good. CLC, or Ryan show me the songs and I put words to them. As far are the writing process it has always been that way, only this time around we feel we learned how to write songs better, and also we didnt have a keyboardist when we were recording so me, CLC, and Ryan on his songs had to write everything ourselves.
What was it like to work with Mike Turner on the record?
>We love working with Mike Turner, he actually recorded our first album as well. He understands what we want to do and he isn't afraid of letting us, or telling us with shit sucks. He has a great mind for the Heavy Metal sound so things just come out very well.
How was it to work with both No Milk Records and Merovingian Music. And what drew you to No Milk in the first place?
>They do a lot of things for us that normally wouldn't be done by other labels. We were actually friends with Kyle, and Greg before this band because NMR had signed CLC's old band. When they heard "It's All A Nightmare" they wanted to put it out and of course we said yes.
What are some of your musical influences for this album and for your sound in general?
>As far as this band is concerned we don't really listen to Hardcore music all that much. We did when we were younger but now we kind of grew into other things. So, the stuff we listened to when we were like 14, mixed with the Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Pantera, etc, that we listened to when we were like 8 until now, mixed with the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen, and all of the amazing songwriters from way before us makes our sounds. No We aren't dumb, we know you can't here any of the Bruce, Beatles, Floyd inspiration, no one can ever dip into that stuff. But, listening and studying that music makes you a better musician and songwriter. Some people don't understand that when we say that is our inspiration, or when we thanbk them that it doesn't mean we aspire to sound like that, it just means that thats what we love. We dont normally aspire to be like some other band that sounds similar because we know how to write that way, its easy.
How is your recent tour with bands such as Days On End and Endless Endeavor going?
>Tours are always up and down. We love being on the road but working with shitty booking agents that don't know whats going on is getting really old. We just want to get on some good tours, and work with some legit people cause it is too hard to do on our own, and we don't want to be home with this CD.
What is something you guys can't live without while on tour? And where is your favorite place
to stop in eat while on the road?
>We can't live on the road without music, and acoustic guitars becase we are always writing whether it be for this band or for whetever. We always love to eat at the Waffle House, the hashbrowns covered are amazing and just taste like a heart attack waiting to happen. We are never too thrify though, every couple days its time to eat something healthy so we look for Sushi, or a good salad place.
In all your time touring, where is your most favorite venue that you love to play at?
>We never play too many places over and over. Right now playing at home would probably be the best because its home and everyone knows who we are. We love being in FL cause its always a great time, but the shows aren't always great, people need to get that changed haha.
What is your most favorite song that you've written so far, as well as which is your most
favorite to play live?
>I think we are very proud of Sixteen Times, and the secret song on the new album. Right now, out of the stuff we started playing off the new album I like to playt ATM, and Dissect Yourself live. We do some stuff with lights and different stage effect and they are very cool on Dissect.
What is one of your most anticipated release of 2007?
>TO be honest I'm not really sure whats coming out. I am very excited about the new Bright Eyes that came out, he is so great at what he does. And of course, for our CD to finally be out I would be a liar if I didnt say I was most excited about that.
Who's the chick on the album cover and in the promo pictures? shes creepy lol
>Her name is Mackenzie Avalone. Kyle, the kid who does the country part during Obituary Cover Girl part 2, is her older brother. They are friends of ours, and Kyles ex GF, Katy Keasler is a great photographer and had all of those pics laying around. We looked through them and picked out what we wanted to use. Mackenzie is creepy in the pics, but she is actually a very pretty girl.
Thanks for answering our questions with gusto! Is there anything you would like to say to the
readers of Skylinepress.net?
>All we have to say is please check our CD out, and give it a listen all the way through. We need everyones support or else we will never get anywhere. Thanks for giving us the time of day!
