Pierce The Veil - Interview

To start things off can you tell us your name and what you do in the band?

>I’m Vic I sing and play guitar.

What happened with Before Today and how did you guys form Pierce The Veil?

>A couple of the members in Before Today wanted to get jobs and weren’t really committed to making music their lives. The new album was taking a long time to write and record so my brother Mike and I just decided that it would be best to release it under a new name. I think it was the best choice since the music is entirely different and since we have new members now. Everything feels new to us, so it just made sense.

Was it an instant choice to sign to Equal Vision Records? Or did you have a longer contract with them from the old band?

>We basically just changed the name and nothing else. Equal Vision was confident that Mike and I could write and record the album ourselves.

Your new album is coming out in a few weeks, How did the writing and recording process go with it?

>Mike and I basically just drove our RV up to our producer Casey Bates’ house in Seattle and lived in his driveway for 2 months while we worked on the album. It was an amazing experience because it was just my brother and I making the album that we always wanted to make together without any restraints. Casey is extremely smart and creative, which made it a very enjoyable recording environment. His main goal was to bring the artist’s vision to life and he went beyond that for us. He helped us do things that I never thought our band was possible of doing.

Weird question but what's up with the chick in the wedding dress?

>She just kind of goes along with the album lyrics. Most of the songs are about a couple of relationships that I’ve had over the last 2 years.

We see that you are going to be on tour with Dance Gavin Dance and Skylit Drive soon, are you guys looking forward to it?

>We are so excited about this tour! Especially since we are good friends with Dance Gavin Dance already. Plus it’s going to be nice to tour the West Coast again.

What is something that you guys can't live without on tour?

>Andrew, our keyboard player. The guy can fix damn near anything. It’s funny when the other bands find out, he ends up just working all the time on other peoples equipment. We’d all be lost without him haha.

Where is your favorite place to stop and eat on tour?

>We just discovered “Cookout” in North Carolina.

What are a few of your most anticipated albums of 2007? As well as the favorites of 2007 so far?

>I have been waiting so long for the new Interpol album to come out! So far, I really like the new My American Heart record.

I really liked the song "Currents Convulsive" from your new album, what is your personal favorite from it?

>Thanks! My favorite song lyrically is Wonderless.

Thanks for answering our questions, we really appreciate it. Is there anything you would like to say to the readers of Skylinepress.net?

>We’ll be touring for the rest of the year so please come to the shows. Go pick up the album in stores or on iTunes. Most of all, WE LOVE YOUUUUUU!
