Hey! Starting off, can you tell us what your name is and what you do in Sanctity?
>(Zeff) Zeff Childress, lead guitar, oh and occasional background grunts.
>(Jeremy) Jeremy London....drums.
We were really happy that you guys were able to bring "Road to Bloodshed" to life after so
much hard work. Was the album all recent material or was it an amalgimation of years of work put
into one album?
>(Zeff) It was a mixture, a couple songs like Seconds and Zeppo we had for a while, we just reworked them a little and the rest were new.
>(Jeremy) Some of it was new some of it was old stuff, we kind of went through every song we ever wrote and decided what was worth keeping and not, it took a while but i think we came up with some really good stuff.
How was the recording process and what was it like to have Jason Suecof helming the producing
process?
>(Zeff) Every time we record it seems to be a totally different process. Jason's direction seems the best way to accomplish an album. He is a total goofball but his thoughts and ideas are insightful. He had a vision for us and the further along we went songwriting wise, the less input he needed to do. He helped us achieve the sound and direction we want to persue.
>(Jeremy) It was very frustating at times...recording is just that way. but it was good working with Jason, he is a good friend.
We heard that you guys got your break after Matt from Trivium saw you guys touring in SC and
really liked your sound and handed your recorded stuff over to Roadrunner. Were you guys touring
with them or were they just there checking out a venue? Also what do you guys think about Trivium?
>(Zeff) The Trivum guys are great, we're all good friends. I wouldn't say it was exactly a break though, we were a local opener for them and they watched us play. They dug it, so we gave them demo cd's. Roadrunner contacted us, but didn't sign us directly. We ended up recording two more demos before RR gave us a contract.
>(Jeremy) We opened a show at a local venue, they were there, we had just got "Ember To Inferno" and we liked it so we went and talked to them, they were cool so we just built a friendship. Great guys they are.
Being a Melodic Thrash band, we are sure you guys have some badass influences. What are some
of the influences for your sound and lyrics?
>(Zeff) Well the typical... Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Testament, In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork, ect..
>(Jeremy) Well obviously the greats like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Testement, Anthrax. We love the bay area sound, so we wanted to mix the new with the old. It's what we like, so its what we wrote.
We know that you guys are on your European tour to support the album with Trivium, Gojira, and
Annihilator, how is the tour going so far and are you looking forward to the tour with Megadeth? (Mistake on tours by me heh)
>(Zeff) Ummmm... I'm not sure exaclty how to answer this... but The Crusade tour was great, we all became friends and every show was a blast. The crowds were amazing and it gave Sanctity much needed exposure. Now for Megadeth... is this something that we don't know about??? We toured with Megadeth in 2006 for Gigantour 2. That was another amazing tour that went over very well for Sanctity. Like Jared says, Dave Mustaine is so metal he doesn't need to headbang.
>(Jeremy) Well the Europe tour was amazing every where we went it was great. as far as Megadeth goes we are not touring with them, we did in 06 bnut now we are working on some other tours.
What is something you guys can't live without on tour as well as what is your favorite place
to stop and eat?
>(Zeff) I'd say A/C, socks, and Mcdonalds dollar menu.
>(Jeremy) Well lots and lots of water, baby wipes. and if we can ever find a chipotle then we are gold.
Of all the places you guys have traveled to, where is your favorite venue?
>(Zeff) Zeff says his favorite venue was probably the Ramshead in Baltimore.
>(Jeremy) The Hammersmith Apollo, it was so amzing being in such a famous theatre.
What is the bands most anticipated album release of 2007?
>(Zeff) Probably the new As I Lay Dying
>(Jeremy) "The Blackening" by Machine Head, I had been waiting for it, I love those guys.
Thank you for answering all of our proding questions. Is there anything you would like to say
to the readers of Skylinepress.net?
