Nights Like These - Interview

How has touring been with your new cd "The Faithless"?

>We havent actually been touring off of it yet, the album comes out june 13th and we will be on tour with sworn enemy so it should be great. we are all very excited.

I know how they do it down south! Any crazy stories from shows?

>Lets say the kids down here are ridiculous. we do our own thing. try to keep the macho bullshit aside and just have fun. it gets pretty carried away though. i know personally, the pile ons have gotten almost deathly....

How long did it take to write and record the new album?

>This album is mostly the material we have been playing around our tri state area for a awhile now with an exception of a couple of new tracks. it took about 3 weeks to record where as when we demoed the stuff at god city we only took 5 days. we bust our asses and work hard. definitely growing always.

What are your major influences/ As a band and What influenced This CD?

>Lets see, mastodon, isis, converge, cult of luna, crowbar, black sabbath, breather resist, his hero is gone, as the sun sets. just random shit. anything that gets me going.

What is your favorite song to play live?

>I love playing Ghost Town Rituals, its got those huge riffs and just makes me go nuts.

How about what is your favorite song of the new album in general?

>I love them all, they were written when we were younger, you can tell growth in our band. I love the new songs (ghost town rituals, eternal tempest) because we havent really played them live that long.

Are there any b-sides? If so, are they going to be released anywhere?

>Ha i wish! we do have a recording with kurt at godcity of 9 songs but those songs are re recorded and coming out on the new album! i dont think it will ever be released but it was def. a great experience and kurt is a genious.

What do you guys do for fun when you are on tour?

>Fuck with eachother. it never gets old. well, to me anyways. haha, we are all very good about keeping eachother entertained. we are a goofy bunch of idiots.

How exactly did you get picked up by Victory?

>We had a friend at the time working up there. We had just recorded at god city and were going to put it out independantly, but we decided to send it out to see what people though. it got in their hands and the rest is history.

What do you think sets you guys apart from the bands in your genre? (A Life Once Lost, Darkest Hour etc)

>We are very humble and we respect everyone. We do our own thing but i think we try and bring a little more to the table. A lot of bands just regurgitate the same crap and sometimes, yea, it turns out real good. We just play what we like to hear and lay it all out. Live, we are an honest emotional band and you can definitely see it on our faces. We just play what we love and try to write stuff that kids usually wouldnt hear on a more mainstream level.

What is something that you can't live without on tour?

>My IPOD! its my baby.

Do you like what Andreas Magnusson did with the record?

>Ive heard these songs recorded different ways and they all have great qualities to them. Andreas is amazing at making things heavy and yet sonically clear. Ive never heard this band so clear! i could actually hear what we were playing finally. He did great on it and we definitely chose the right guy for the job.

How are the southern women?

>The absolute best.

Well that wraps it up, thank you guys so very much for the interview. Anything you'd like to say to the readers of SkylinePress.net?

>The album comes out june 13th!! buy that shit and come say hi at shows, we love meeting people! and thanks for the interview, its awesome cause i never do this kind of thing!
