Jason Roy (Vocals)

Building 429 - Interview

So, could you begin by stating your names and what you do for Building 429?

>I'm Jason Roy, I sing & play guitar for building 429.

What are some things you want to get accomplished in 2007?

>Well, I'd really like to move in a new direction, we'd like to do that, ya know?

Do you guys feel you have progressed in Iris To Iris from your last album, "Rise"?

>Uhm yea, the coolest things about the record is that we felt that we didn't need to prove ourselfs anymore, I mean sure, some people will think we do, but we feel we didn't need to. We had the most fun we've ever had before making this record, and feel that it really does show.

What are some of the main elements of this album that differ from your previous album "Rise."?

>This record is the worship record for Building 429. I feel we put alot more work into the strings (guitars) & keys, and I feel that it definitely shows in the songs.

What would you like fans to take away from the new record?

>Basically Forget about us, talk about who that is, I would really like to see alot of the fans drawn to the lord.

How did the recording process work out for you guys? Did you enjoy working with (Brown Bannister)?

>Yeah man, He's our hero, All the press you've heard about him is true, hes probably a genious, he has the most amazing ability to spot things. He is able to pick out things, like the guitars & the frequencies on the record.

If you could pick your favorite track off the new album, what would it be, and why?

>Oh, man.. Theres theres alot, Track 10 off the new record; "constant" Would be my personal favorite, I remember the way it was written, I was driving in nashville & suddenly something hit me, So I took it to Bannister & he thought it was cool, & liked the way it looked. "Power of your name." Would also be another favorite of mine.

I really like the artwork on the new record, could you explain how the artwork came about, who made it?

>Well, we've had an EP & 2 records with just picutres on front, and I just got really sick of it, So one day I went on google, and searched for "Eye Of God" And up came a picutre of this star constellation, and it kind of looked like an eye. We all liked it, so we sent it to the guy that did the artwork for My Chemical Romance, he touched it up & sent it back, and we were all blown away and that's how it came about.

I tend to ask alot of bands this, but do you guys enjoy touring?

>Uhm, yea man, i enjoy it. I mean, as a band we know the plans for the next stages we take.

What are some plans for the future of Building 429?

>Well, the next step would be co-headlining in tours with other upcoming artists, uhm, world travel would be another thing aswell, we will be going over-seas sometime in december. I'm also going back to europe sometime in the winter. I also think we'll be going to Africa as well.

Sorry the interview was so short, is there anything else you would like to include in the interview?

>Yeah, go check out ourwebtsite: http://www.building429.com/ & http://myspace.com/building429/. Thanks!
