How do you guys feel about your debut album Pilots & Paper Planes?
>We're very excited to have the opportunity to record
in a professional studio and we're definately pleased
with how it turned out.
Was it a long on going process recording it or did you guys go into the studio knowing exactly how you wanted everything to sound only taking a couple of takes for each song?
>Well we spent about 11 days in the studio for the
album. We went in knowing the sound that we wanted
for all of the songs, but after hearing quality
recordings we were impressed at how they all turned
out. The takes seemed to all pass fairly quickly
during the whole process.
Were there any major themes or concepts behind this album?
>We just hoped that this album would be fun to listen
to. Other than that we really didn't have a specific
theme.
Now i understand you guys are currently on tour throughout the Midwest and East coast, in fact i think you're passing through my area May 6th in Valpo IN. how has the tour been going for you guys?
>The tour has been amazing so far, we're all excited to
be back on the road and we hope to continue touring
for the rest of the year.
I'm not quite sure how long you guys have been
out for, but do you
have any feelings of home sickness yet,
or are you guys still excited about the chance to
live out your dreams
touring the USA?
>Well we've been out on the road for less than a week
now, so we haven't really felt any homesickness yet.
But we're definately stoked to be on the road, meeting
new people every day and just having a good time.
I had the chance to see you guys in Florida at a New year's show at 688 Skatepark in Clearwater, FL and for as slight as the crowd was, you guys seemed to
really tear it apart, in
fact i think i might have been one of
the people throwing in a few cartwheels for you
guys. But do you guys
usually carry that much presence for every one of your shows? (i understand that it was a show
that happened right
around your time of recording, but
for being off for a while you guys were pretty
amazing.)
>We try to pour all our energy into every show and to
make every show a party. We'd love for everyone just
to have a good time and for kids to stop being so
serious all the time. Right now it's kind of tough to
have the normal energy level on stage, because our
lead singer twisted his ankle last night and a few of
us our sick. But hopefully we won't let that drop our
live show energy.
Are there any personal favorites on the album
for you, or songs you
especially enjoy playing live?
>Lately we've been ending our shows with "High Noon",
it seems to have more energy live than any other.
It's our favorite song to play.
If somebody were to open your cd case or maybe
take a look through
the cds in your car, what do you think
they might find?
>Not what you'd expect. We each have diverse taste in
music, so each of our CD cases are different. You can
find anything from Coldplay to The Bled to Sigur Ros
to Panic! at the Disco. We all just listen to music
that we enjoy and we try not to only listen to the
type of music that we play.
Would you say that some of those bands have lead
to the sound you
guys have become today?
>I'm sure that everything we've listened to in the past
has had some sort of an influence on our songwriting,
but it might be difficult to hear their influence on
our album.
If there was one thing you'd like to let people
know about Pilots &
Paper Plane's what would it be?
>Umm... That it's for sale now for just $9.99 at bloodandinkrecords.com
hahaha
It has been great getting to do an interview
with you guys and i
wish you all the luck with the new album
and touring. Do you have any last words you'd like
to share with us?
>Thanks for checking us out and we'd love to see
everyone out at our shows soon.
