June - Interview

How long did the album "If You Speak Any Faster" take to put together?

>The writing process took about 3 months in total and the recording process took about a month and a half.

Wheres the album title come from?

>It comes from the lyrics of the first song, its about arguments and close friendships.

Where did you get the name June from?

>Well at first we started saying we should "drive like june" and it just stuck. Then we changed the name when there was a band that sounded the same as we did and had almost the same name, so we just chopped of the drive by and keep it as June.

What's your favorite song to play live?

>We have many favorites but our over all favorite is The City.

What's the funnest thing thats happened on tour?

>We were having fun and this annoying bitch punched Dan from Just Surrender so we had her kicked out, and when we went to dinner she was there. So, we bet our merch guy to throw some mashed potatoes in her face and he did it. That had to be the funniest thing that happened on tour.

What's your most anticipated release of 2006?

>We loved new Saves the Day, and we can't wait to hear new Brand New.

I heard you started the band as a joke. How did the joke start about?

>I worked at a mom and pop coffee shop and we were looking at ways to improve business, so we thought we could start a coffee house band that would play some nights. But after we got the band together and played some local shows, the coffee shop closed so we just continued with it and keep playing at different places.

What kinds of things keep you busy when you aren't playing music?

>We love going to see movies, and we just recently got airsoft guns, so we've been playing around with those. I've also been writing alot of new material for our new CD.

What's the one thing you guys can't live without on the road?

>We all love our i-pods and watching movies while on the road. AJ enjoys some gifts from his girlfriend. I got a polaroid camera that i use to take pictures of every where that we go, and when i get older i will have that to look at and remember back when.

What's the craziest thing a fans done for you guys?

>We've had alot of people that go from show to show, even if it's in a different state, and always show up, We had one guy that came all the way from England to see us, as well as his buddy. We also get people that cook for us and invite us into their home, thats great.

What's your favorite place to eat on the road?

>I love fast food and buffets. We just ate at Cici's pizza when we got here. Another one of my favorites is mongolian barbeque.

For people who haven't heard your band, how would you describe yourselves?

>I'd have to say that we are pop and alternative rock. I'm not going to say that we are pop punk cause we are more pop alterna-rock.

What are some of the goals do you hope to accomplish as a band.

>I plan on doing what we do for as long as we can. I want to continue for us to grow and to be able to play for more people. We really want our music to go out and make people happy.

Wayne, a co-partner of Skylinepress, would like to know why you guys left his favorite song "Joannes Story" off the off the full length?

>Even though we put a few songs from our self titled ep on to the full length, Joannes Story wasn't included because the other songs that did make it had more energy and hit harder which were more suited for the album. We still love that song and it means alot to us. <3 June
