The Acacia Strain - Interview

What are your guys' thoughts on the upcoming release of your second album on prosthetic records entitled "The Dead Walk"?

>Excited as helly hell hell.

Were there any major concepts behind the making of this album and about how long did it take to do?

>Some songs we have had for a couple years, but we busted out most of it in two months or so.

I noticed the upcoming tour you have set up to begin June 8th, about how long has it been since your guys' last tour?

>Before that tour we did a week with those silly guys in The Red Chord in May and before that we went out with Darkest Hour in February.

Are there any major events or shows you guys are especially looking forward to or any major events you'd like to let us in on?

>This upcoming tour with Caliban should be exceptionally fun.

Will this tour be the first time you've performed the brand new material live or have you guys been tossing a few in here and there in past shows?

>We have been performing "4x4" and "As If Set Afire" for two years now.... but the tour with Soilent Green was the first we extensively played the new stuff.

How do you think the crowds will react to this new material, do you feel that it has changed quite a bit from songs off your past albums, or do you think the kids will instantly feel right at home with the new stuff?

>The reaction is amazing.

What are some of the craziest things you've seen happen at one of your shows?

>A machete. That's all I'm saying...

Any other crazy stories or outrageous happenings you'd like to share with us from past tours?

>We are boring.

In recording "The Dead Walk" what bands were you listening to that helped mold the album into what it is? in other words what bands were currently influencing you when creating the songs?

>I think you can tell by listening to a few songs that we are heavily influenced by Matchbox 20. Yeah, that and a mixture of Abba and P-funk.

Do you guys feel that your music has had any drastic changes at all throughout the past few years?

>We got heavier..

That just about wraps it up, is there anything else you'd like to share with the readers of skylinpress.net?

>Too much candy is bad for your teeth. Be sure to brush because oral health is an important part of daily hygiene.
