Alkaline Trio
After over a decade of slugging it out in the underground, Chicago’s Alkaline Trio has garnered the respect of critics and adoration of a legion of fans worldwide. Now signed to Epic Records, the band is returning with the next chapter in their admittedly morbid lyrical take on Punk Rock. Agony and Irony was produced by Josh Abraham (Slayer, 30 Seconds to Mars) at his L.A. based Pulse Recording and finds the band streamlining their approach compared to the wide-screen production style of their more recent work. The album features the blistering lead off single, “Help Me” which guitarist/vocalist, Matt Skiba wrote after being moved by the Joy Division biopic, Control. Check out the song on their MySpace page. Not to be outdone, bassist/vocalist, Dan Andriano contributes with some of the most vital material of his career. On “Ruin It,” he incorporates some Ennio Morricone flavored dynamics showcasing his veteran chops. With the new album hitting stores and a hectic headlining tour scheduled, Alkaline Trio is in for the year of their lives. Alkaline Trio is currently out on tour with The Fashion. "Agony and Irony" is out on July 1st through Epic Records.
